An O-Demonstration will be held as part of the 90th Anniversary of Boy Scouting in America celebration by the Baden-Powell Council. Integrated into the orienteering courses will be lots of "High Adventure" type skills and activities for boys, parents, friends, general public, as well as other demonstrations and Cub Scout exhibits.
But look out -- each adventure station is somewhere along the route between orienteering control points, so the only way to get to the stations is by orienteering!
Should be LOTS of fun; bring your friends!
Courses:
white (shorter/easier), yellow-orange (middling), green (longer/harder)
Starts:
11-2; later starts are possible if you make arrangements.
Map:
This is a new map that is not entirely field checked; about half is
very good, and half is fair to good.
I avoided placing controls at locations that would be difficult to find
because of the map. You might need
to use some ROGAINE type skills in between a couple of the controls This
is a great park with interesting
contour details in some sections. Future use and therefore additional
field checking should be considered!
About the park:

for a New York State web page listing all NY State Parks.
You can select Chenango Valley
from the list on the left of that page to get more information about
this particular park.
Directions:
From Binghamton: Take I-81 North to I-88 East.
From I-88: Take I-88 to exit 3 (Port Crane).
Take Rt. 396 North about 4 miles.
(About a mile from the park, you will pass an interesting old stone barn
and metal silo on the left.)
A small green sign marks the left turn into the park. Turn left here,
then go straight until you
see the little information booth at the entrance. Just past the booth,
turn left toward the Pine Plains Pavilion area and follow the orange and
white diagonally striped orienteering signs.
