This year's features:
The club will provide hot drinks, cider, and water. If you want to bake some goodies up to share & donate for the snack table it would be appreciated (yeah we're copying ROC). Hey, it's good practice for Thanksgiving, experiment on us!
Also, if you are not running that day and would like to help set courses, let Shawn Forney know ... Shawn & Pete are meeting at the main lodge office at 9 AM 11/22 Saturday.
As requested at the Scout-O on November 8-9, there will be offered another, more advanced group lesson map hike, led by Mark Dominie, the club's top mapper, organizer and instructor, at the Turkey-O, November 23. This "clinic" is open to all older Scouts and leaders and interested parents at no extra charge, starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. at HIGHLAND FOREST SKYLINE LODGE, first turn to the left off of Highland Park Road, near the Northern end of the park. The group lesson will be over in time for all to register before registration closes at 1:00 p.m. so there will be the opportunity to test newly learned skills on one of the Turkey-O courses. Remember to bring your 2008 Scout-O map to show for half-price of CNYO's regular local meet fees...
Note: Orienteering events always take place regardless of weather, unless the conditions are truly dangerous, as they were at Highland Forest during the storm Tuesday October 28, with snow flying and trees toppling all over the place.
