Highland Forest County Park, Fabius, NY
Day 2: The Nordic Center at Hope Lake, Virgil, NY
Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8, 2009

A ROGAINE-style event for winter hosted by CNYO, spread over two 7-hour days. You and your partner(s) visit a series of controls of varying point values by foot, skis, sled, snowshoes.... etc. Start is at 8:30 am Saturday and 9:00 am Sunday. All teams must finish by 3:30 pm Sat. and 4:00 pm Sun. or suffer severe penalties. Warm refreshments will be provided at Home Base each day.

WHERE: Home Base for Day 1 is Skyline Lodge @ Highland Forest in Fabius, NY. Located on the park road. Home Base for Day 2 is The Nordic Center @ Hope Lake in Virgil, NY. Located on Clute Road off Rt. 392 south of Cortland, NY, the Nordic Center is the XC ski area across from the Greek Peak downhill area. Detailed directions posted on CNYO web site.

MAP: Day 1 is Highland Forest, a 1:15,000 standard orienteering map. Day 2 is a segment of The State Forests of Southern Cortland County Rogaine map with a scale of 1:15,000 map.

FEES: $40.00 PER PERSON pre-entry. $50.00 PER PERSON day of event. You must pre-register by March 2 to ensure a pre-marked map. No entries accepted after 8 am Saturday, March 7.

CATEGORIES: Teams will be classified as MEN, WOMEN, COED, or MASTERS (all over 45).

Notice: Hypothermia and frostbite are two real dangers possibly facing competitors. Organizers reserve the right to terminate a competitor's participation if he/she appears to be suffering from exposure to the cold with either hypothermia or frostbite. It is required that competitors bring any food and liquids with them that they might need during this long distance event.
