Event Description: Annual Turkey-O, Sunday November 10, 2019
Highland Forest County Park, Fabius

Open to the public for individuals, families, or groups

Instruction for beginners: Noon to 1 PM
We'll be teaching basic map reading skill and how to use a compass to follow a direction in the woods. Orienteering is a sport involving use of map & compass to navigate the forest on foot. Orienteering is good for walkers as well as those who like to run in the woods.

Two courses to try:

  1. A 90 minute long Score event, with a mass start at 1 PM for all ability levels. You can run as a group or as an individual.
  2. A sprint/novice course to warm up on.

Fee: $8.00 per color map (groups can share maps), $5 for Club members. Water and snacks included.

Where to find us: Registration area will be at the Pines Camp cabins. From the park entrance on NYS Route 80, go straight up the hill and keep going straight; do not bear left at the Y toward Skyline Lodge. Park in the first lot on your right. Pines Camp is across the street and uphill behind the old park office.

Event held rain or shine. Large groups of 8 or more people should email sxf36@hotmail.com with their group size so we can be sure to have enough maps.
