Central New York Orienteering
Spring O — Saturday, April 19, 2014 — Green Lakes State Park, Fayetteville, NY

Free instruction from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon, open starts from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Orienteering is a sport involving use of map & compass to navigate the forest on foot. We'll be teaching basic map reading skill and how to use a compass to follow a direction in the woods. Orienteering is good for walkers as well as those who like to run in the woods. Open to the public for individuals, families, or groups.

There is a 2.2-km guided map hike for beginners and two relay courses that are 1.6 km each. Compasses available. Instruction is free, there is a $5 donation for color maps. Follow orange & white signs to start/registration area just south of Green Lakes park office/main entrance on left. Event held rain or shine. For more information, call Shawn at 315-383-6392.
