1999 Collegiate and Scholastic Orienteering Championships

Teams for Intercollegiate Championships in 1999


CNYO is hosting the USOF Collegiate and Scholastic Championships for 1999 at our A-meet the last weekend in April. The following USOF rules apply to the USOF Intercollegiate Championships. The most recent additions or modifications to these rules were made in 1992. (To see the Scholastic rules, for those in grade 12 or below, please click here.)

 
4.5.2 The following classes will be added at the U.S. Intercollegiate
      Championships, and Individual U.S. Intercollegiate Champions
      will be declared in them.
  a.  Intercollegiate Varsity Men's Champion (Red course)
  b.  Intercollegiate Varsity Women's Champion (Green course)
  c.  Intercollegiate Junior Varsity Men's Champion (Orange course)
  d.  Intercollegiate Junior Varsity Women's Champion (Orange course)
 
5   Eligibility
 
5.5   Any person desiring to compete is eligible except as set forth
      below or in special cases designated by the Executive Committee.
 
5.5.1 Persons with prior knowledge of the competition area that they
      or the meet organizers believe will give them unfair advantage
      are not eligible to compete for awards, titles, or national
      rankings. (see section 35.5 Fairness (not included in this
      excerpt))
 
5.5.2 Persons not eligible for awards, titles or national rankings
      may participate.
 
5.6   The title of U.S. Champion in any category as determined at an
      officially designated U.S. Championship Orienteering "A" meet
      shall be limited to USOF members in good standing who meet one
      of the following criteria:
  a.  Are U.S. citizens and citizens of no other country
  b.  Are in a permanent residence status commonly referred to as
      "green card carriers".
  c.  Hold dual citizenships and have physically resided in the U.S.A.
      for at least the twelve months preceding the championships.
 
5.6.1 Requests for clarifications or rulings based on these criteria
      may be submitted to the USOF Headquarters in writing 30 days
      prior to the championships.
 
5.7   To be eligible for Intercollegiate Varsity competition a
      competitor must:
  a.  Be a full-time college or university student (undergraduate or
      graduate as defined by the college or university)
  c.  Be less than 28 years old as of December 31 of the current year.
  d.  Have competed in less than 4 intercollegiate championships for
      which he/she was eligible for intercollegiate titles.
 
5.7.1 To be eligible for Intercollegiate Junior Varsity competition
      a competitor must:
  a.  Meet the above criteria for an intercollegiate champion (5.7)
  b.  Have not competed in any intercollegiate championships for which
      he/she was eligible for intercollegiate titles.
 
5.7.2 To be eligible for an intercollegiate Individual championship
      title a competitor must:
  a.  Meet the criteria for U.S. champions in rule 5.6.
  b.  Meet the criteria for intercollegiate varsity competition in
      rule 5.7 or for junior varisty in rule 5.7.1 as is appropriate.
 
5.8   An intercollegiate Champion Club must be a Regular or
      Associate USOF club in good standing.  Its team shall consist
      of any combination of men and women who meet the following
      criteria:
  a.  Are eligible for intercollegiate varsity competition. (5.7)
  b.  Are USOF members in good standing
  c.  Are all primary members of the same USOF Club.
  d.  Are eligible for U.S. Champion titles.
 
5.9   An Intercollegiate Varsity Team shall consist of up to five
      competitors made up of any combination of men and women who
      meet the following criteria:
  a.  Are eligible for intercollegiate Varsity competition.
  b.  Attend school on the same campus.
 
5.9.1 An Intercollegiate Junior Varsity Team shall consist of up to
      five competitors made up of any combination of men and women
      who meet the following criteria:
  a.  Are eligible for intercollegiate junior varsity competition.
      (5.7.1)
  b.  Attend school on the same campus.
 
5.10  The U.S. Champion Club must be a Regular USOF club in good
      standing and only competitors eligible for U.S. Champion titles
      may contribute to the club score.
 
5.11  The winning Team or Club is determined by adding the lowest
      three times from among the eligible team members each day.
      The team with the lowest total time over the day or days of
      competition is the winning Team or Club.
