Wed 16 Jun Domine Estates Directions

Depending on which general direction you're coming from the route to the top of the hill is different. As a guide, we are located North of Marathon on a hill on the East side of Rt. 81/11. Our road is on USGS and DeLorme maps but not on most NY road type maps.

FROM BINGHAMTON OR ALBANY : Take I-88 (if coming from Albany) to I-81 north. Get off at the Marathon exit (#9). At the end of the ramp go ACROSS 221 as if you were going to get back on 81 south. The entrance ramp is shared with the Galatia Street/Road. Almost immediately (10-15 meters) after crossing 221, turn right onto Galatia Street. Continue on this road into the country for about 3 miles. You will be looking for a Left hand turn onto Pine Hill Road. This is the first 4 corner type intersection you'll come across. This end of the road is paved. Go exactly 1 mile up, up, up Pine Hill Rd. to our place on the left.

We're a log cabin not really visible from the road but you'll know it's us by (choose one):

  1. a large stand of pine trees along the road
  2. the name Dominie on the mail box
  3. just past Pine Hill Paintball
  4. all the orienteers

FROM CORTLAND AND POINTS NORTH : Take NY Route 11 south (use exit 10 off I-81 if coming from Syracuse) to about 1/2 mile past the intersection with Rt. 392 (the road to Greek Peak) and turn left up Pine Hill Rd. Continue until you identify the place by one or more of the criteria above. This end of Pine Hill Rd is a seasonal use dirt road so if weather is nasty (slippery snow) continue south on Rt 11 to Marathon and go as directed from there, above.

FROM ITHACA AND VICINITY : Take Rt 13 East to Dryden and continue straight onto Rt 392 at the traffic light in town. Follow 392 to its end on Rt 11, go South on 11 to Pine Hill Rd, and continue as if coming from Cortland, above.

O signs will be posted at major decision points. If you get confused and end up wandering around, don't panic. Things are very low key and we start/finish things when we want to, so if you show up late we don't care as long as the sun's still up or you brought your night-O equipement.
