Wed 26 May Cornell Plantations

Memory-O: This week's training will be a memory-o(*) at Cornell Plantations. We'll meet on Forest Home Drive along Fall Creek across from the Plantations' entrance. I'll be setting up a short and long format. Standard starts around 6:00; no maps to copy, so no need to come early.

*At a memory-O, you do not get a map to carry along with you between control points. Instead, at each control point you'll be able to study a fragment of the map that shows how to get from where you are to the next control point. Your challenge is to decide which way to go and remember how to get there. Kind meet directors will give you a cheat sheet of all the map fragments to use in case of emergency or whenever you admit to yourself that you've forgotten where you were going. If a cheat sheet is provided, you'll get to carry it with you.

Fees: $2 per person, no CNYO discounts.

Directions:
By car from Syracuse or Binghamton and points north, east, and south:
Take I-81 to exit 11 at Cortland. Left at the exit ramp T onto 281. 281 merges into Rt. 13; follow 13 around the right turn on Dryden's main street. Just past NYSEG, take 366 left at the light. On the far side of Varna, instead of continuing up the hill on 366, turn right on Forest Home Drive. Opposite the Plantations' entrance on the left, park in the gravel pullouts on the right.

By car from elsewhere:
Take your best route to Rt 366 near Varna. Turn north on Forest Home Drive. Opposite the Plantations' entrance on the left, park in the gravel pullouts on the right.

On foot, from Cornell:
Walk east on Tower Rd and follow the road as it bends right to avoid the Vet School campus. Take the next left and walk east between the Companion Animal Hospital and B parking lot. Cross Comstock Rd, pass the greenhouses, and continue walking east on the grassy track through the field- aim to the north of the water tank by the horse barn. Cross the asphalt drive and cut downhill toward the pond. At the bottom of the hill, take the road leading left and downhill (north) just before the house on your left (way before you get to the pond) and follow it to Forest Home Drive. Cross the road and look for the parked cars with O signs.

If you need more info get ahold of the Meet Director, Pete Dady.
