Details:
Some compasses are available for loan.
Courses: Two courses, one long for runners and one shorter for beginning orienteers or relaxed travelers.
Interesting twist:
I have a neat scheme in mind -- the Cornell Police have an
up-to-date map showing all the "blue-light" emergency phones
on campus. Not only does
it provide a ready-made map for photocopying, but somebody has already
put out all the controls....
Starts: As usual, mass start at 6:30 pm. Show up by 6 so you can copy the map before the start.
Instruction: If you're new to this and/or want instruction, tell the meet director and he'll buttonhole a CNYO member to help you out.
Finishes: Expect to be back at the start/finish in one hour- it's fine to skip some controls and head straight back if it's getting late. (You do NOT want us to send the Cornell Police after you, though if you need to get hold of them yourself in an emergency you can use one of the blue light phones!)
Fees: Usual $2 per map weeknight training fee applies; no member discounts.
Directions: Kite Hill meeting point: From Rt. 366 just South of Cornell University, turn North on Judd Falls Rd. and take the first left onto Campus Rd. Follow to the Kite Hill Parking lot just before the football stadium.
